Growing Food, Dignity, and Community: Harambee Community Farms
In 2025, Harambee House launched Harambee Community Farms in response to a devastating truth: vast portions of Savannah and Chatham County remain persistent food deserts.
The farm is more than a source of fresh food, it’s a solution born from community vision. It’s a place where families can reclaim access to fresh produce, where young people learn agricultural and entrepreneurial skills, and where the seeds of a sustainable food system are being planted for generations to come.

Savannah is no stranger to climate disasters. Extreme heat, storms, hurricanes, and flooding have become part of daily life for many residents. Harambee House has transformed its own offices into a Climate Disaster Resilience Hub, offering resources, emergency supplies, and safe gathering space for the community.
